Voltage
Security Announces
Alliance with NeuStar to Provide
High Assurance Managed Security Services
Identity-Based
Encryption Technology and Proven Network Identity Service
Combine to Enable a New Class of Identity-Driven Security
Palo
Alto, CA., July 8, 2003--Voltage Security, Inc.,
a new information security software company, today announced
an alliance with NeuStar, Inc., the leading neutral third
party provider of mission-critical network identity clearinghouse
services, to provide a fully integrated managed security
service. Based on Voltage's breakthrough cryptography
technology, Identity-Based Encryption (IBE), and NeuStar's
network identity clearinghouse suite of services, NeuLiberty,
the new service will provide enterprise and mid-market
customers with turn-key high assurance managed security
services.
With
the Voltage Security platform, customers can protect business
communication by using identities such as a well-known
email, phone number or IP address, instead of the pre-generated,
cumbersome public-private key pairs and digital certificates
required in existing solutions. Technical details of IBE
are provided in a white paper entitled Identity-Based
Encryption from the Weil Pairing, by Dr. Dan Boneh of
Stanford University and Dr. Matthew Franklin of the University
of California at Davis and a member of the Voltage Security
Advisory Board, at www.voltage.com.
We
are able to offer our customers a fully managed security
service by partnering with NeuStar, a company that offers
and enables proven turn-key usage-based clearinghouse services
for identity information exchange. This is a great foundation
for expanding our partnership to encompass additional managed
service offerings, said Sathvik Krishnamurthy, president
and CEO of Voltage.
We
are excited about the opportunity to work with Voltage. Together,
we will enable the deployment of new highly differentiated
applications for secure communication, using the Voltage
Security platform and NeuStar's NeuLiberty suite of services, said
Mark Foster, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology
Officer, NeuStar.
Integrated
Services to be Offered
Voltage
and NeuStar will offer a fully integrated managed service.
The Voltage Security platform offers the following benefits:
- Secure
anytime, anywhere communication. Users can encrypt
and decrypt communication and information, online and
offline, anywhere in the world with transparent roaming.
- Self-provisioning.
No pre-enrollment of recipients is needed to send secure
ad hoc communication, unlike existing solutions.
- Ease-of-use. Users
can transparently send and receive secure communication
without changing their day-to-day behavior.
- Ease-of-administration. The
Voltage Security platform can be quickly implemented
and centrally administered. No complicated archive solutions
are required for keys or messages to ensure business
continuity.
- Low
total-cost-of ownership (TCO). By leveraging
well-known identities, such as an email address,
the Voltage Security platform reduces complex infrastructure
thus reducing overall costs.
