Voltage Security™ Announces Universal Desktop
Coverage for Voltage SecureMail™ and Enhanced
Deployment Options for Voltage SecurePolicy
Suite™
Palo
Alto, CA--November 17, 2003--Voltage Security, Inc.,
(www.voltage.com),
provider of secure multi-channel business communication
solutions, today announced a major set of enhancements
for the Identity-Based Encryption (IBE)-enabled Voltage
Security platform products Voltage SecurePolicy Suite
and Voltage SecureMail. These new releases incorporate
enterprise deployment options enabling support for multiple
authentication methods, the ability to specify authentication
for local and extended users and universal desktop support,
including the new Voltage Zero Download Reader™ for
providing 100% comprehensive coverage for email users.
IBE
is a breakthrough encryption technology developed at
Stanford University. With IBE, customers, for the first
time, can engage in secure anytime, anywhere business
communication without complicated setup and enrollment
procedures. IBE uses simple identities, such as an email,
phone number or IP address, instead of pre-generated,
public/private key pairs and digital certificates, to
secure all kinds of business communication.
“Customers require flexibility in deploying enterprise
privacy and security solutions. With this release, we
provide a comprehensive set of deployment options that
enable customers to choose multiple authentication methods
and decide exactly how each method will be deployed inside
and outside the firewall. The set-up and administration
for security policies has also been greatly simplified
with this release,” said Wasim Ahmad, vice president
of marketing, Voltage Security, Inc. “For end users
we have added support for all major email systems and
developed the Voltage Zero Download Reader™ so secure messages can be
sent with confidence and read without downloading any software.”
"Organizations
require the ability to securely communicate with their customers and partners,
regardless of the technology or infrastructure in place. This demands that
secure messaging solutions support ad hoc messaging and include
transparent enrollment capabilities for new participants.
Similarly, such solutions must function independent of the
technology or
infrastructure in place by the end user, and thus requires
clientless capabilities," said
David Thompson, senior research analyst, META Group.
Enhancements
to Voltage SecurePolicy Suite
Voltage SecurePolicy Suite, running on Microsoft Windows
or Linux server platforms, enforces security policies
related to the issuance of keys, user provisioning, and
administration of mission critical business communication.
With the enhancements announced today, Voltage SecurePolicy
Suite fits easily into existing enterprise architectures,
leverages investments in existing identity management schemes
and provides support, via identity management adaptors, for
alternative authentication methods. These adaptors support
the leading authentication methods such as Windows Domain
Authentication, as well as the capability to configure custom
adaptors.
Enhancements to Voltage SecureMail
Voltage SecureMail is the first secure email solution that
makes secure, ad hoc business communication as easy as
traditional, non-encrypted messaging.
To provide universal desktop coverage, Voltage SecureMail now provides
multiple deployment options including a fully integrated Voltage SecureMail
agent that provides smart detection of encrypted email on all major email
platforms including Lotus Notes, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express,
Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail.
In addition, universal desktop support is now
offered through the Voltage Zero Download Reader. This means that any
email recipient, on any email system, can read an encrypted
email with no download necessary. The availability of the
Voltage Zero Download Reader provides 100% coverage for end-users
who can receive encrypted mail inside and outside the enterprise,
as well as providing confidence to senders that their emails
can be read on any system.
Support for definition and enforcement of
policies relating to email groups within Windows Exchange
2000 has also been added to Voltage SecureMail. This means,
for instance, an encrypted email can easily be sent to a
designated group such as “North American Sales Force” and
only members of that group can view the email.
