Voltage Security Joins the SecureIT Alliance

Voltage Joins Microsoft and Other Industry Leaders in Effort to Improve Integration of Enterprise Security Solutions

Palo Alto, CA– October 6, 2005– Voltage Security, Inc., a global leader in enterprise privacy management for digital business communication, today announced its founding membership in the SecureIT Alliance formed by Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) along with other industry leaders. The SecureIT Alliance is an effort to bring greater integration to enterprise security products, and to collaborate in building innovative new security solutions for the benefit of common customers. As part of the effort, the Alliance is building a community site (www.secureitalliance.org) designed to foster a technical dialog between partners and ensure a greater degree of interoperability and integration with the Microsoft platform during the technology development phase. Customers will be able to use the site to find security solutions and information to help address their security related needs.

“As an enterprise privacy management partner, Voltage is dedicated to this new industry initiative. Our customers will benefit from the more tightly integrated, higher performing and more cost-effective security solutions resulting from these efforts,” said Sathvik Krishnamurthy, president and CEO, Voltage Security. “Our easy-to-use and award-winning encryption, Voltage IBE (Identity-Based Encryption), is a natural capability to be easily integrated into both the Microsoft platform and many of these other partner solutions.”

“SecureIT is an effort by Microsoft and other industry leaders, such as Voltage, to tackle security challenges in a collaborative, productive way. Microsoft is committed to working with these partners to address the key security challenges facing IT,” said Bruce Burns, Senior Director at Microsoft Corporation.

About Voltage IBE

Voltage IBE is a public key cryptography system that uses common identities (such as an email address or screen name) as public keys, eliminating the need for certificates, Certificate Revocation Lists (CRL) and other costly infrastructure. Voltage IBE results in a solution that is easy to implement and easy to manage, without the overhead and cost inherent in traditional security solutions. Voltage IBE is ideal for use with financial services customers and medical patients who expect communication to be kept private and secure and also want ease-of-use and low-cost. Voltage IBE solutions are:

  • Easy to implement and easy to manage – eliminates the overhead and costs inherent in traditional security solutions such as PKI
  • Highly scalable – no storage of keys or messages, and no need to contact online servers; allows the solution to scale dramatically without the need for additional infrastructure
  • Easy to use – no need for end users to worry about keys or certificates.
