PALO ALTO, CA — June 25, 2007 —Voltage Security, Inc. (www.voltage.com), a global leader in enterprise data protection, today announced that it has been awarded five new patents for encryption technology innovations by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. These additions strengthen Voltage’s IP and patent portfolio, and make available breakthrough technologies and processes that enable the company and its partners to enable pervasive data security and privacy throughout the enterprise and beyond.
“Voltage is excited to see these patents issued," commented Sathvik Krishnamurthy, president and CEO, Voltage Security, “They validate the market’s recognition of Voltage as an innovator of encryption and key management technologies.”
He continued: “We are working closely with standards bodies such as the IETF and IEEE to make these technologies available to a broad range of ISV’s through reasonable and non-discriminatory licensing. These include companies in the messaging, document, managed services, and mobile computing spaces, such as Microsoft, Proofpoint, Secure Computing, Sendmail, Canon, Code Green Networks, Network Solutions and NTT Communications who are already benefiting from OEMing Voltage IBE.”
The new patents granted are 7,113,594; 7,103,911; 7,017,181; 7,003,117; and 6,886,096. These broadly cover the systems and methods for Identity-Based Encryption (IBE) cryptographic techniques, district policy information, messaging with public parameter host servers, securing data distribution, and more.
About Voltage Identity-Based Encryption
Voltage IBE ™ is a public key cryptography system that uses common identities (such as an email address or screen name) as public keys, eliminating the need for certificates, Certificate Revocation Lists (CRL) and other costly infrastructure. Voltage IBE results in a solution that is easy to implement and easy to manage, without the overhead and cost inherent in traditional security solutions.
Voltage IBE solutions are:
- Easy to implement and easy to manage – eliminates the overhead and costs inherent in traditional security solutions such as PKI.
- Highly scalable – no storage of keys or messages, and no need to contact online servers; allows the solution to scale dramatically without the need for additional infrastructure.
- Easy to use – no need for end users to worry about keys, certificates or multiple inboxes.
Solutions incorporating Voltage IBE are available from the world’s leading security and managed security service companies.
