A
prominent figure in network security and the world's
first Chief Information Security Officer, Katz is widely
regarded as one of the discipline's thought leaders.
In addition to his roles since 1985 as the senior security
executive for JP Morgan, Citibank/Citigroup, and most
recently Merrill Lynch, he has been a force at both
industry and government levels in raising the visibility
and shaping the direction of the security industry.
Well known and deeply respected within both the financial
services and security industries, Katz has testified
to Congress on information security issues, was appointed
as the Financial Services Sector Coordinator for Critical
Infrastructure Protection by the Secretary of the Treasury,
and has spoken at numerous industry conferences. He
also has served as a Founder and Chairman of the Financial
Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center, Chairman
of the American Bankers Association Information Systems
Security Committee, Vice Chair Financial Services Roundtable-BITS
Security and Risk Assessment Committee, and Member
of both the New York Clearinghouse Banks Data Security
Officers Committee, and the Securities Industry Association
Information Security Committee.
