Why to not automate HR
After my recent post about why I'm not alone in believing that the stories that you hear about a critical shortage of people with information security skills are complete nonsense I had a few discussions with HR people about why their current processes for screening applicants are working so poorly. The conversations can roughly be summarized like this:
Me: "What you're doing now just isn't working, is it?"
HR person: "No, but we use lots of automation so it's very efficient."
Me: "So you're getting terrible results, yet in a very efficient way?"
HR person: "Uh, pretty much. Yes."
Maybe I'm missing something here, but this seems like a great opportunity for clever consultants to make lots of money.
