With Data Breaches in the Headlines, Data-Centric Security Takes Center Stage at Strata + Hadoop World
CUPERTINO, CA – February 18, 2015 – The swarm of data breaches hitting every type of business today is a leading topic in enterprise board rooms–focusing attention on privacy, regulatory compliance and security for sensitive data. Consumer transactions, personally identifiable information, customer records, and the like, all flowing together into the Hadoop “data lake”, will enable critical business insights but also means Hadoop big data installations are a rich target for cyber-crime.
At Strata + Hadoop World, Terence Spies, noted data security expert and CTO of Voltage Security, will present options for securing data and speeding Hadoop implementation, empowering organizations with strategies to de-risk Hadoop implementations in multi-platform Enterprise environments.
The session, titled “How to Ensure Your Hadoop Installation is Not the Next Big Data Breach,” will be presented on Friday, February 20 at 1:30 pm, followed by the opportunity for one-on-one discussion through Strata Office Hours.
Spies will discuss how recent deployments in pharma, health insurance, retail and telecoms illustrate:
- How to take advantage of technologies that remove the economic value of data to attackers,
- Ways to balance data security with access by different users with different analytics needs,
- Why it’s no longer sufficient to achieve annual compliance over real-time security,
- How much time and money can be saved by containing the scope of compliance audits to just a few nodes rather than all your Hadoop clusters.
- Spies will also present a session in conjunction with technology partner Teradata at at the Teradata mini theater at Strataon Feb 19, at 1:10 PM.
Spies will explain how organizations can leverage sensitive data across the Teradata Unified Data Architecture, translating data analytics to insights and innovation – by fully protecting data that’s secure at rest, in motion, and in use throughout the full data lifecycle.
Voltage Security will demonstrate its data-centric security solutions for Hadoop and big data at the Strata + Hadoop World conference, being held February 17-20 in San Jose, CA.
