Voltage Security SaaS Solution Expanded to Enable Connected Enterprise Community
San Francisco, CA — April 21 2009 — RSA Conference 2009 – Voltage Security, Inc., a global leader in information encryption, today announced significant enhancements to its enterprise version Voltage Security Network (VSN) software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering. VSN enables enterprises to extend policy-based encrypted communication as a “common service” to customers, partners, vendors, suppliers and service providers—any member of their business network. The unique capability is enabled by the new Voltage SecureMail Connected Gateway, an appliance that allows everyone in each user organization’s “community of trust” to communicate in a seamless fashion without the need for multiple credentials or accounts. The new version offers numerous other benefits as well, including fastest deployment time yet—with gateway implementation time cut to only 20 minutes—and add-ons for archiving and eDiscovery, as well as a streamlined user experience for Microsoft® Outlook® and RIM® Blackberry® messaging.
A good example of the capability for organizations to easily extend policy-based secure communications to business networks or consortiums is New York’s Rochester Regional Healthcare Association. The Association is comprised of multiple healthcare providers, hospitals, labs, medical schools, researchers, health practitioners and patients. The Voltage service enables seamless secure collaboration throughout the entire healthcare community, fortifying compliance with HIPAA regulations and new ARRA privacy guidelines (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009). A single account serves all Association member organizations and individuals, who use the same log-in credentials for securing e-mails, files and documents. The benefits extend broadly to all network members, who can easily identify the ease of use, low cost, reduced management and enhanced support.
“What’s most important for us is the ability for everyone to work together simply, seamlessly and securely, and that’s the greatest benefit Voltage provides,” said Diane Ashley, president and CEO of the Rochester Regional Healthcare Association. “It’s easy, it works great, and it gives us full control over encrypted communication based on policy without the complexity of having to configure or manage anything. Best of all, it saves time and money.”
“We’re gratified by the market response to our offering of technology that offers usability, cost savings, scalability, and ease of management; the number of subscribers to the Voltage Security Network has grown consistently since the launch, and doubled in the past year alone,” said Mark Bower, vice president, Product Management, Voltage Security. “More than 74,000 customers—from a broad base of companies spanning large enterprises to mid-market and small businesses—now subscribe to Voltage Security Network, and we expect the enhanced features in the new release will make the service even more attractive to organizations and professionals that want to extend on-demand encryption to their business networks.”
Connected Gateway for Community-Wide Secure Communications
The ability to provide a common service for communities is enabled by the Voltage SecureMail Connected Gateway appliance. Designed for smooth implementation on-premise, the appliance is very easy to deploy and integrates easily with data loss prevention (DLP), archiving, eDiscovery and mobile messaging solutions.
For enterprises that already use Voltage SecureMail on-premise, it’s easy to upgrade to the new Voltage Security Network and extend the capabilities to business partners, customers and affiliates. It allows everyone in the network to secure sensitive data while improving compliance with regulations or security standards such as HIPAA, ARRA privacy guidelines, PCI DSS and Sarbanes-Oxley.
Additional New Features
In addition to the community-enabling features at the heart of the new release, the upgraded Voltage Security Network includes a number of benefits for customers and affiliates who incorporate it into their own product and service offerings.
- Faster service provisioning—In most cases, individuals or groups that subscribe to Voltage Security Network can be up and running within five minutes.
- Archiving and eDiscovery add-ons—In order to meet the needs of organizations with strict compliance requirements, Enterprise Voltage Security Network integrates with archiving and eDiscovery solutions.
- Integration with Blackberry and Outlook—Mobile workers can send encrypted communications from their Blackberry devices, and Outlook users can encrypt messages with a single click.
For manufacturers and resellers:
- Rapid on-boarding for OEMs—Manufacturers can now tether directly to Voltage Security Network services, dramatically reducing their time to market.
- New reseller package— The VSN store front is fully customizable and makes it easy for resellers to provide information, flash demos, and free trials of the service, as well as manage license subscriptions.
- Affiliate interface—The VSN interface can now be fully integrated into reseller SaaS offerings, to provide a single seamless way to manage users and accounts across a range of SaaS and cloud-based services. Voltage email encryption leverages Identity-Based Encryption (IBE), in use by many of the largest brand name companies in the world. IBE provides, for end users, highly usable email encryption, and, for organizations, lowest total cost of ownership, management and administration. The enterprise SaaS-delivered Voltage Security Network enables the same multi-tenant features and capabilities as Voltage’s on-premise solution, Voltage SecureMail, while removing altogether the need to deploy and manage the system for third-party participants. (VSN handles all authentication, identity management, federated key management, software provisioning). However, customers still have the ability to maintain or establish their own policies such as custom brands. Unlike other providers, Voltage also offers free help desk support to VSN customers and their communities.
